In 20 years, I’ve never looked for what kind of configurations a host uses for email and calendar before signing up, but I guess I need to now. But I’m exhausted and frustrated and wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
I just moved my hosting over to Dreamhost VPS today and was so excited. It was all last minute before a launch (tomorrow) because I just found out my old host had me on a shared server with some questionable activity and I was getting blacklisted. After getting my websites moved, I started setting up email and discovered that I can’t use my calendar with my accounts.
I was told by two different Dreamhost support ppl that there is NO WAY I can use a calendar with my emails on Apple Mail. There is NO WAY Dreamhost can talk to CalDAV. No workarounds. No nothing. They advised me to use “an email client like Google Workspace or Outlook.” Apple Mail has gotten really good and I’m trying to stop paying every time I sneeze. And worst of all, I broke my rule of not getting really mad on a support chat. But don’t worry, I prefaced it all with “I know it’s not your fault, but…”. So it’s all good. Right? Or not. Damn it. Any ideas?
